OVERVIEW
Account Tracker is designed to track activity across multiple accounts, e.g. your current or checking account, savings, credit cards, expense accounts ... etc.
Like most finance apps on the AppStore, you need to manually enter your transaction data before it can be analysed and presented. However, there are a number of time saving features that let you enter your transactions quickly.
First of all, you can set up all of your recurring transactions using powerful, calendar-like repeat intervals (e.g. weekly, biweekly, monthly, the second last Friday of every month ... etc).
Once you have started entering one-off transactions, you can easily enter similar transactions by copying earlier ones (perhaps editing the amount only). You can also quickly search for an existing transaction to pre-populate the category field.
KEY FEATURES
Account Tracker has a number of features that I believe are either unique, or are only available in a small number of similar apps ...
✔ Full multi-currency support, both per account and per transaction
✔ Group accounts into one of three account groups, for example to separate business accounts from your personal ones
✔ While it is useful to see where your money goes, you can also look FORWARDS, showing all of your future commitments up to a year in advance
✔ If an account is likely to go overdrawn, or hit its overdraft limit, an alert can be displayed, either when you start the application or while running in the background (supported devices only)
✔ Set up bill reminders for non-automatic transactions
✔ Set spending, income and transfer budgets per category, to track your cash flow over time
✔ View detailed and powerful reports showing account balances, and cash flow, as well as a breakdown of spending, income and transfers by category
✔ Budgets and reports can be viewed per account, per account group or across all accounts
✔ Local backup and restore (on your device), plus export of backups by email and import/export of backups over your WiFi network
OTHER FEATURES
✔ The default currency is the one local to your device, i.e. $ in the US, £ in the UK, € in Europe ... etc, but this can be overridden
✔ Add details and categories to each transaction to track where you are spending your money and on what
✔ Search for transactions that match a category, transaction details or notes
✔ Reconcile your account data with your statements, either manually or automatically (based on transaction date)
✔ Hide or show reconciled transactions
✔ Export statement data in CSV format, for offline processing (e.g. in a spreadsheet)
✔ Account data can be secured using a PIN code
TRY IT FOR FREE
Search for Account Tracker Free on the AppStore. It has all the functionality of the full version, but is limited to 25 transactions. If you buy the full version, you can quickly transfer your settings and transactions using the Export to Full Version feature on the settings screen.
What's new in Version 2.9
By popular request, added support for syncing between devices using Bluetooth. This is basically an extension of the backup feature, and it lets you select and send a backup file directly from one device to another (e.g. between your iPhone and your iPad). Note that its not true syncing, since your data is overwritten (not merged), but it does simplify moving your data around. I am still investigating Dropbox support for a future release.
The files in the backups screen are now shown in REVERSE alphabetical order, so that your most recent backup is at the top (i.e. it will be visible).
More improvements to the budgets screen. By default it will show just those categories for which you have set a budget, however you can change this to show all categories using the All/Budgets button at the top left of the screen. I have also added a summary of spending, income and transfers in a new top section.
Improvements to the detailed reports screen (i.e. when you select the i button). I have added a summary of spending, income and transfers, as well as the various reports per category/detail all in the same table.
Export of budget and report information as a CSV file (e.g. you can now export things like all spending in 2010).
Fixed export of CSV files to ensure they are loaded in multiple columns. Please let me know if you still see issues here.
Made a subtle change to the semantics of the END ON date for recurring transactions. This now controls which OCCURRENCES are valid, rather than which EDITED DATES are valid. I only know of 12 people likely to be affected by this change (you know who you are!), however if others find that your balances have been changed or are incorrect as a result of this update, PLEASE get in touch ASAP via my support pages as there is a very quick way to work out what you need to do.
