The sounds themselves are very brief and hard to locate ... hide your iPod or iPhone in your pocket, in a desk drawer, or even out in plain sight! The screen remains dark and the noises are very short and nondirectional. It drives people nuts trying to figure out where the sound comes from! The "crickets chirping" sound will have people on their hands and knees looking for that stupid bug ...
